Mt. Carmel's interim police chief now permanent replacement
John Lockhart has been named Mt. Carmel’s new police chief. He says he’s been interim chief since mid-November and replaces Jeff Besing.
Lockhart told 14 News reporter Laura McNutt that he has been with the department for 16 years. His past roles include patrolman, K9 officer, command sergeant, shift commander, and he also was in charge of patrol at one time.
The city council has also approved hiring of two new police officers. Jonathan Plum and Justin Decker are the patrol officers who have been hired and will now go to the police academy.
