A public health emergency is a serious, unexpected threat to the overall health of the public, which demands immediate attention and action. Disaster or emergencies requiring a public health response include communicable disease outbreaks, use of biological agents by terrorists, and natural, human-caused, or technological disasters.
The Wabash County Health Department used the additional grant funding to enhance its emergency response capabilities, including additional communication and computer equipment, supplies, and a trailer to haul supplies and equipment to locations around the county to establish Points of Distribution or Alternate Care Sites.
