A southern Illinois couple's home was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.
According to our media partner, the Mt. Carmel Register, the home belonged to Jacob and Amanda Macer and is a total loss. Amanda Macer owns Aly Mae Images, a photography business in Mt. Carmel.
What caused the blaze at the wood frame home in rural southwestern Lawerence County isn’t known. As is standard procedure, the State Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to assist with the investigation.
Crews from Sumner arrived first, with Denison and West Salem providing mutual aid but the home was already engulfed when the first units arrived on scene.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
A fund has been set up for monetary donations or VISA gift cards through Brenda Bobbitt at Old National Bank, 400 Market Street, Mt. Carmel, or at the Wabash County Chamber office, 219 Market St., Suite 1A. The Wabash County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lesley Hipsher also asks that if anyone has donations but is unable to get away, the public can call her to make special arrangements at 262-5116.
