A semi ran into the back of an SUV on Illinois Route 130 in Edwards County Thursday morning, sending two Chicago area men to the hospital.
Illinois State Police say a 2010 Ford Explorer driven by 54-year-old Gary Boom of Burbank was heading north about 10:15. He was slowing down to turn east on County Road 450 North when a semi tractor trailer driven by 50-year-old Grzegorz Florczykowski failed to slow down and struck Bloom's vehicle from behind.
Both Bloom and one of his passengers, 84-year-old Casmir Bloom of Chicago, were taken by ambulance to Wabash Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. State Police say the two were in the area on a deer hunting trip.
Florczykowski, also from the same area near Chicago, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
