WHITE CO, IL (WFIE)- The Enfield community is coming together this weekend to support the families of those injured in a July oil tank explosion in White County.
This weekend's fundraiser in Enfield started when the Mason's Lodge wanted to raise money for the Farris family, and now several other local organizations have come together to help out each family involved.
Four men were seriously burned in that explosion, 36-year-old Shane Farris losing his life. Now, several local Enfield organizations have formed the Enfield Community Fundraisers group, holding a pancake breakfast and pork chop dinner at the Enfield United Methodist Church, starting at 6:00 a.m. Saturday.
Farris' widow Amber says her late husband would be proud of the way the community is coming together to support not only her family, but all those affected.
"Everybody in our community has reached out to me financially and helped around my house, just, helped take my son racing," she said. "Overwhelming. My husband would really be proud."
Coming up on 14 News at 6, we'll tell you how you can help those families out and hear more from Amber on why all the community support means so much.
