Albion woman dies in crash | News

A 40-year-old Albion woman died Saturday morning when the pickup truck she was driving crossed the center line and struck a tanker truck.

Illinois State Police say Christine E. Rhodes was traveling westbound on Illinois 15 at the Little Wabash Bridge around 8:40 a.m. when she drove into the path of a 2000 Western Star tank truck driven by 54-year-old Chalen Carter of Fairfield.

Rhodes was flown to Deaconess but died later in the day.  Carter was taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of what troopers say are minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
