Grayville bar brawl sent two women to hospital; police asking for changes

A female bar owner and a patron were sent to the hospital after what a local newspaper is calling  “wild melee” Saturday night and it has the city’s police chief again calling for action.

The Navigator-Journal reported that a 26-year-old Harrisburg woman was arrested for aggravated battery as a result of the fight in which 54-year-old Donna J. Campbell of Grayville, co-owner of Chappy’s Bar and Grill had a tooth knocked out and was rendered unconscious.

Rowdy behavior in the early morning hours has been a problem for Grayville Chief of Police Mark Worlds who is asking the City Council for a revision of the city’s liquor code.

Grayville bars are open until 1 a.m., a later closing time than surrounding communities, which has led to trouble caused by out of towners, according to some city leaders.   Read more here.
