3 hurt when van flips on I-64 in Wayne Co.

Three South Carolina residents suffered minor injuries after their van overturned on I-64 around 5:25 p.m. Monday.

Illinois State Police say the 2001 Tan GMC Van, being driven by 54-year-old Tracey Goodson of Dillon, S.C., was Westbound on Interstate 64 near Mile Post 115.5 when, for unknown reasons, it ran off the roadway to the right.  Goodson attempted to quickly bring the vehicle back onto the roadway which caused it to overturn and come to rest just north of the Interstate off the roadway.

Goodson was transported by Wayne County Ambulance Service to the Fairfield Hospital for treatment of minor injuries she sustained in the traffic crash.  Goodson’s two passengers, Elnore B. Goodson, age 72, of Dillon, South Carolina and her granddaughter, age 3, were also transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital by Wayne County Ambulance with minor injuries they sustained in the crash.   Both adult occupants were wearing seat belts.  The three year old child was restrained in a child restraint.

Rick’s Towing out of Fairfield, IL removed the GMC Van from the traffic crash scene.

ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County Rural Fire, and Wayne County Ambulance.
