A fast moving storm front with very strong winds knocked down several electrical poles along Illinois Route 130, near Edwards County Road 2100N, in northern Edwards County Thursday morning.

Several of the poles fell onto Illinois Route 130, striking multiple vehicles around 7:30 a.m.  A total of four vehicles received damage from the falling electrical poles and two people were taken to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney for the treatment of minor injuries.

Throughout the day, Ameren has been attempting to repair and replace the downed electrical poles and power lines.  According to Ameren, a total of twelve electrical poles are being replaced and the project is anticipated to be completed by 9:00 p.m.

Currently, both lanes of Illinois Route 130 are closed.  However, Illinois State Police say one lane should be re-opened for traffic around 6 Thursday evening.
