Teen driver hurt in crash | News

Illinois State Police say a speeding teen driver was injured lost control of the pickup truck he was driving and crashed in Gallatin County Thursday morning around 8:40.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Ridgway resident was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on New Market Road at Payne Farms, when he lost control of his vehicle and left the west side of the roadway, striking a guide wire from a utility pole. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch.
The driver was transported by Air-Evac to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, for treatment of injuries he sustained in the traffic crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.
ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department, the Shawneetown Police Department, the Shawneetown Fire Department, and the Ridgway Fire Department.
