Roadside safety checks planned in White, Wayne Counties

Illinois State Police District 19 will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in White County on Saturday, June 30, and a second one be held in Wayne County on Saturday, July 7, according to District 19 Commander, Captain Morrie Fraser.  Both of these Roadside Safety Checks will be in conjunction with the July 4 Holiday Emphasis Period.

Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or driving under the influence.

Alcohol and drug impairment is a significant factor in over 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.  RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road.

This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
