Grandmother shoots granddaughter | News

The Hamilton County Sheriff says it appears a 79-year-old woman was defending herself when she shot her granddaughter during an argument Monday.

Gregory Brenner told The Southern that Mary Bullock and Becky Thomason, 39, had been arguing just before 7 a.m.  Bullock shot Thomason twice in the stomach at Bullock's home in rural Dahlgren.

14 News has learned that Thomason is in fair condition at Deaconess Hospital after being flown there after the shooting.

According to the newspaper, no charges had been filed as of early Tuesday and the Associated Press reports that the investigation is continuing.
