State Police: New Haven man's car flips in DUI wreck

A 21-year-old New Haven man was hurt when his vehicle left a Gallatin County road and flipped several times Tuesday night.

Illinois State Police say it happened at 9:14 p.m.

Troopers say the preliminary traffic crash investigation indicated that the driver of a 2002 Chevy Cavalier, Matthew D. Stacey, age 21, of New Haven, was traveling Northbound on the Shawneetown-New Haven Blacktop approximately ¼ mile North of Ponds Church Road when he lost control of the vehicle while attempting to navigate a turn in the roadway.  Stacey’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck the ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times, coming to rest on its top.

Stacey was transported to Ferrell Hospital with non-life threatening injuries by Gallatin County Ambulance.  C & T Towing out of Shawneetown towed the passenger car from the scene.

Stacey was cited for Improper Lane Usage and DUI.
