Gibson County officials are encouraging the public to take advantage of a free prescription discount card available to county residents regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage.
Since 2007 the cards have saved residents more than $231,000 on their prescription drug costs. More than $78 million has been saved across the state of Indiana.
“Gibson County launched the program to help our residents cope with the high price of prescriptions,” said Jennifer Tuley, RN; Administrator of the Gibson County Health Department. “With so many families struggling, we want to make sure everyone knows that these valuable discount cards are available at no cost to the consumer or taxpayer.”
The average savings per transaction is 24 percent. Tuley said county officials are hopeful that more Gibson County residents obtain a card and begin saving money today.
“Using the prescription discount card is easy,” Tuley said. “Simply present it at a participating pharmacy. There is no enrollment form, no membership fee and no restrictions or limits on frequency of use. Cardholders and their family members may use the card any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance.”
The card can also be used for some pet medications.
Cards are available by contacting the Gibson County Health Department at 812-385-3831 or by visiting our office at 203 S. Prince Street.
Residents can also print their own card at: http://www.nacorx.org/.
