Small Farm and Garden Conference Oct. 26 | Events
Those who are passionate about gardening and those who are current and prospective small farmers are encouraged to attend the Ohio Valley Small Farm and Garden Conference, sponsored jointly by the Cooperative Extension Services of both Purdue and the University of Kentucky. The conference will be held Saturday, October 26, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, at the Henderson County Cooperative Extension Service located at 3341 Zion Road in Henderson.
The conference is filled with an array of farm and garden topics including growing fruit trees, composting, organic gardening, wine making, canning tips, fish cleaning, woodlot management, small animal production, small farm equipment demos, small flock poultry production, and much more.
This conference should be of special interest to current and prospective small farmers, market gardeners, and more advanced home gardeners. It will allow participants to increase their knowledge of methods and processes, which will in turn improve their profitability. New growers will be able to gain information on basic production methods of the various topics provided. Attendees will also gain access to local experts who can help them throughout the year with productivity, and help diversify current farm and garden operations.
Registration deadline is October 18 for a cost of $5. Registration at the door is $10. The fee covers lunch and various take-home materials. For registration in Indiana, contact the Purdue Extension Warrick County office at 812-897-6100.
