Drug task force asking for help stopping cannabis growing operations

The Carmi-based Southern Illinois Drug Task Force would like to request assistance from the public in identifying possible illegal cannabis plant grow operations.  Traditionally, this time of the year has seen an increase in those individuals attempting to cultivate cannabis plants, especially in the rural areas of the counties and many times hidden among legitimate crop fields.

SIDTF Agents would ask if you observe what you believe to be cannabis plants or what you believe to be suspicious activity, to please contact their office.  SIDTF Agents caution the public from attempting to destroy suspected cannabis plants or confront individuals they may encounter in and around discovered cannabis plants.  Information that would be beneficial to the SIDTF includes, location of the suspected cannabis plant grow operation and descriptions of any persons and vehicles (license plate state and number) seen in the area of the cannabis plant grow operation.

In addition, if anyone has any information concerning the production, uses, and/or sale of illegal substances, please contact the SIDTF at 618-382-4606 Extension 210.  You may remain anonymous while providing information pertaining to suspicious drug activity.
