The Board of Directors of the Southern Illinois Community Foundation encourages the people of southern Illinois to contribute to the SuperStorm Sandy Disaster Relief Fund of the Southern Illinois Community Foundation for those affected by SuperStorm Sandy.
The October 29 SuperStorm impacted over 12 states on the Eastern Seaboard of the US and there is still a great need for financial assistance in the aftermath of this enormous storm. Many have been devastated from this disaster; some are still without power, others have experienced extensive damage to their homes and buildings due to high winds and flooding, while transportation and fuel shortages have slowed restoration.
